The Governments Plan to Destroy These license Plates is Short sighted and Ridiculous. These are Historical Plates That Should be Saved for Present and Future Generations Of Hobbyists,Veterans, Collectors as they are Historical automotive artifacts. This Should not be a Decision Made by an Associate Director who sits on front of his computor looking at Numbers. These should be sold, as they will bring in revenue to the Government

An Email received from the associate Director as Follows:

Mr. Pysar
I am writing in response to your request for clarification dated October 22 regarding the department’s plans for old style Veteran License Plates
As the Veteran License Plates are in a numerical sequence that is identical to the plates that are slated to be issued to clients, they will be destroyed.
Thank you,
Steve Loutitt, MBA
Associate Director, Road Licensing & Safety
Department of Transportation
Government of the Northwest Territories

Background information

Mr Louttit's decision is wrong and short sighted, as the Old Style Bears are Completely Different than the NEW Style Veteran Graphic Plates Which Has the Poppy.I am sure there is no 1000 Veterans In the NWT Which is Close to the Amount of Plates that is slated for destruction.
I started an On Line Petition Yesterday Oct 28th, And Have received support for saving these Plates From Australia, New Zealand, England, Germany Plus Many US and Canadian Veterans, Doctors, Senators, Government Workers who are Avid Collectors Of Rare Historic Items. As a 10 Year Prior Resident Of the NWT I have tried desperately for the Past 2 years to Purchase These Plates and Am Still willing to do so at a Price the Goverments wants. The associate directors Decision I am sure will not stay well with the Tax Payers, With the Coming Of Remembrance Day will put a soar taste in any Veteran festivities and Government Officials will have a guilty conscience.

Rejection reason

Not a resident of the NWT.
